Common questions
Biodanza is a guided group practice that uses music, movement and human connection to support wellbeing. Through simple, accessible exercises (no choreography or dance experience needed), it helps people reconnect with themselves and others, reduce stress, build confidence and experience greater vitality and joy.
At its heart, Biodanza is about strengthening our capacity to feel fully alive.
Biodanza can benefit a wide range of people because it is adaptable, inclusive and non-competitive.
It may be especially helpful for:
Adults experiencing stress, anxiety or low mood who want a gentle, embodied way to reconnect with themselves.
People seeking greater confidence and self-esteem, through positive group experiences and creative expression.
Older adults, including those living with dementia, who benefit from movement, connection and non-verbal communication.
Children and young people, particularly those who struggle in traditional learning environments.
Individuals recovering from trauma or life transitions, as Biodanza offers a safe, relational and non-judgemental space.
Anyone wanting more joy, vitality and meaningful connection in their lives.
No dance experience, fitness level or special ability is required — Biodanza meets you exactly where you are.
A Biodanza weekly session lasts around two hours and is divided into two parts:
✨ The Sharing Circle
We begin seated in a circle. If it’s your first time, you’ll have the opportunity to introduce yourself. Regular participants may share reflections from previous sessions. There is no pressure to speak — listening is equally welcome. This space helps create trust, connection and a sense of community in a supportive, non-judgemental environment.
✨ The Dance Experience
The second part is a guided, largely word-free experience where music leads the movement. There are no steps to learn and no choreography to follow. You are invited to move in simple, natural ways — sometimes alone, sometimes in pairs or small groups — always at your own pace.
Sessions are usually done barefoot (or in soft footwear if preferred), helping you feel grounded and connected.
There is no judgement, no performance and no expectation to “do it right.” Biodanza is about authentic expression, presence and enjoyment — meeting yourself exactly as you are.
Monthly workshops usually last around five hours. The day is structured in two parts of approximately two hours each, with a one-hour break in between to rest, eat and connect informally with others.
Not at all! Biodanza is open to everyone — no dance experience, special skills or level of fitness is required. You simply come as you are.
However, it’s important to speak with Maria before attending your first session. This allows you to ask any questions, understand what to expect, and ensure the group is the right fit for you.
Just get in touch with Maria. She’ll be happy to answer your questions and guide you through the next steps.
